History Will Judge You – You Are Passing Bills Without Prior Notice, Senators Critcise Akpabio
Some Senators have criticised the senate president Godswill Akpabio, for passing some specific bills without prior notification or properly informing them.
In a viral video from Thursday’s sitting, Senator Ali Ndume (APC) representing Borno South district, lamented the rate at which Senate President Akpabio has been passing bills without formal reading and members’ contribution.
In his Word he said
“You are just passing bills without prior notification, including money bills, you just pass pass bills within two (2) hours without anyone’s contributions. This is not good for Nigeria”
Also speaking, Senator Ogoshi Onawo of PDP representing Nasarawa state decried the hasty passage of sensitive bills. Maintaining that passing money bills within 2 hours doesn’t make sense and doesn’t augur well for the country
he said: “Since we started this senate, you said it’s a collective Senate, we’ve been ambushed all the time that very sensitive bills and are expected to be passed with a speed of light which isn’t good for this country Sir, you are on the seat today history is going to judge you that things like this are not good for this country”.
In his response, Akpabio said: “If the bills we are passing are good for the country, history will judge me right. I don’t think we would come here to pass a bill that’s not good for the interest of Nigerians. So, your point of order is noted”.
